Bob Lamb’s Home of the Hits

Sent in by Penga:

Bit surprised to see only two listed can I suggest Bob Lambs Home of the Hits built after his success recording Signing Off by UB40 at his Cambridge Rd cellar. Saw Ocean Colour Scene, Ruby Turner, Warlord and the current Slade there + What band, The Catch and remember those great new years eve parties with loads of musos jamming in the 16 track studio.

  1. I recorded with Bob many years back. Very talented guy and a lovely bloke. I’d love to get in touch and say hello if anyone has a contact please

  2. Our first recording as Judy’s Jungle was in Bob’s ground-floor-flat studio in a terraced house at the bottom of King’s Heath. Arriving at 9am, Bob left us in the backroom studio sat on a sofa behind the mixer. Memorably something stirred on the wooden platform over the desk, and a naked woman swung herself down, stretched, said good morning and left for the bathroom. Rock & Roll!

My next Bob recording was at the new building back of the High Street, that later became the Quaiffe & Liiley sports warehouse. Our session was after Bitty McLean – he’d just recorded “It Keeps Rainin”. In my proper job I sold Bitty a top-end PA as he liked to DJ at house parties
