Caliche were a Latin American band who I played guitar and percussion for. Caliche were led by Carlos Villa-lobos Munoz Based in Kings Heath. I went on to work free-lance PA, studio work and teaching FE Sound Production to HND level and still worked free-lance on studio design and some solo blues gigs but now retired. Hope this may be of interest/help to your project. Regards
I am trying to find the address for Freddy Arbuto who I believe was in this band. I think he now lives in Stratford upon Avon if you have any contact details for him I would be grateful if you could forward them to me, with his agreement of course. Our children used to go to the same school.
Thank you
I am trying to trace Ron Bates a great guitarist knew him in 1970’s moseley B’ham
Hola mis amigos!!
My love affair with Latin-American music began when, as secretary 4 Aston University Students’ Union from 1979 – 1982, I came across Carlos + his band: Caliche. I became entranced with the music @ a couple of students’ gigs. Eventually, I visited several Latin-American countries in 1989, including Peru, Ecuador + Bolivia and encountered beautiful indigenous peoples + their haunting, serene music.
Thank you, Carol and Caliche. I’m sure you’re all well retired and you leave lots of memories 4 many people like myself, who will never forget you all.
Abrazos!
I remember them as well, I have been to Chile, twice and have flown over the Andes. I love the music. I used to see lots of Latin Americans busking in Stafford Market Square. I remember Los Andes Restaurant. I went there a lot. I was a Post Grad at Birmingham University. Feliz Navidad.
