Frank’s studio in Erdington was only a 4 track. He then built a 24 track in the basement of the old post office building opposite Aston University. I was one of the three partners. I’ve got pics and info if you want them. The reason why I looked up FSR is that I’m putting together a personal profile for the band I currently play with which includes stuff about FSR studios
HELP-Can anyone remember the address of this studio ,We Did the Mell Square Musick EP there in 79 .I remember it as being just down from the Yenton pub but can’t recognise it these days,anyone know the house number please? Also does anyone know what happened to frank skarth after his 24track Bagot st studio closed
hi was wondering if u could help me with a enquiry i have regarding my late father whom was a session drummer maybe in the 60s till 80s and may have done some recordings at the FSR . hes name was john / johnny prickett any information you may find will be much appreciated ,or if you if you can point me in the right direction on where i might able to find this information help
As s young 17 year old I became a tea boy at FSR. My uncle was s manager
With names such as Judas Priest, Pat Travers etc. Also worked with Sabbath and worked with Frank and some local talent.
I ended up getting some publishing and recording time with him before the place was burnt to the ground. It was a great studio! I understand Frank drowned, falling from a yacht?
Frank’s body was found off the coast of St Peter Port. From what I can remember it was an accident where big boat hit little boat and sadly Frank died and the person with him I think survived. Frank couldn’t swim. It was around the late 80’s early 90’s. I remember FSR being built and the opening night. It was a fabulous studio but I believe that it was burnt down under strange circumstances. But that is as much as I can remember. I have since lost touch with his wife and son. Frank was best man at my wedding.
I was a friend of Frank’s for several years, during the time we worked with and released a single for The Doyley Brothers, called “Scaredy-cat”. I played drums on the track.
I was shocked to hear that Frank had died after a boating accident. I also didn’t know he had a son?
If anyone knows the whereabouts of his then-time wife Louise, I would greatly appreciate being able to contact her.

I think Frank Skarth died in the late 1980s or early 90s

Hi…so are/were you married to David Lane, one of Frank’s recording/arranging/music buddies years ago……he was a piano player at that time.
