  1. One of the best venues in Birmingham. Regular there late seventies and early eighties until I relocated to California. Great memories.

  2. Does anyone have a contact for Bobby or Chimpy? They were both old mates in the West End days. Sean Toal

My last message featured Bobby Fields and Chimpy Harris and I don’t think I left enough detail. Anyway… Bobby (white GS) and Chimpy were old mates. The last time I remember talking with big Bobby was in a club called the Factory, Gas St, and Brian, near where I worked in Bradford St. If only I had picutres of the inside the old West End Ballroom or Locarno. If anyone has contact of the boys mentioned above please give them my e-mail and we’ll meet, God willing, the next time I’m in town. Cheers.

  3. There was a lot of bad press for the club during 1981 when a man was stabbed to death outside the venue. There doesn’t seem to be any connection with the club itself in the press at the time.

  4. U2 & Comsats, awesome gig, I seem to recall trying to get mates to come along, the blokes who now spend £100s on mega stadium gigs, no takers. I don’t think I have ever sweated as much as I did at this gig, must sort out my ticket stub. Bauhaus & Wall of Voodoo, very very drunk, Bronski Beat, Depeche Mode with Blancmange as support, Divine, Punk all day ears, Hank Wangford band, did I see Simply Red here, or is that faulty memory?

  5. I loved the Lacarno I was always there in the early 80s x does anyone remember the band Red Sun x
