I was a guitarist in an early 70″s band – Stoned Parrot (Bonzo Dog Dooda type rock band) based in Edgebaston, We supported Steve Gibbons Band, Global Village Trucking Company and many others – Mickey Barker was our drummer, most others were university students. I was also guitarist/bass guitarist with Stereo Graffiti (punk poetry/rock with blues feel) run by Nik Toczek an award winning poet and writer still working – Based in Moseley. Caliche (latin american) I played guitar and percussion, led by Carlos Villa-lobos Munoz Based in Kings Heath. I went on to work free-lance PA, studio work and teaching FE Sound Production to HND level and still worked free-lance on studio design and some solo blues gigs but now retired. I’ve just found some pictures from 1973 – I think it’s Stoned Parrot. The negs just say “Parrot” I’ll post them when I’ve finished scanning them
I have a few b/w photos of Stoned Parrot from 1974. Steve Royston was the singer, and yes, they were made up of mainly students. I have a picture of Nick, a med student, on bongos. I got to know them through the Trinity Arts Centre set up in an old church. Fond memories.
