The Chads

Mick Adkins lead guitar, vocal
Keith Harrison drums
Joe Parsons bass guitar
Keith Warrender guitar
John Williams vocal
Jeff Lynne lead guitar

This Birmingham based group were not so well known as many of the other Brumbeat bands, possibly because most of their bookings took them to other parts of the country. The group was originally called The Sundowners who had been active on the local scene since the late 1950’s.

  1. I remember mick adkins he was an electrician and I was his apprentice
working for lee beesley in approx. 1964 when they where building st martins hse
in the bull ring . most dinner times we would go over to the musical/instrument
shop on the ringway where he would test and play the guitars. he was a great guy
to work with and I was very sad to learn of his death in the paper a few years ago.
I also got to know dave can,t remember his surname he had a brother mick who
played for the redcaps he had a lotus Cortina he gave me a lift and scared the
life out of me so I have a claim to fame and proud of it.

    1. I had been traveling through Europe in 1993 when I met Keith Harrison and his family in Greece. We became good friends, and I even got invited to Joe Parsons wedding in Birmingham (where I was visiting Keith for a week). The Chads played a few tunes, much to everyone’s delight. After meeting all the lads except Jeff Lynne, all I can say is they werel a great bunch. We lifted a few pints and had a great time. Keith had a heart of gold. Unfortunately, we’ve lost touch a number of years ago. I too was saddened by Mick’s passing.
Some great memories you never forget…

      Cheers,
