  1. i have an old business card of the defenders have been trying to locate raymond hopkinson formerly of green park rd. northfield

  2. If i’ve got the right band, my Dad (Bob Green) played keyboards and sang with them. Somewhere, my Mum has a postcard with a picture of the band in suits, holding on to a lamp post.
    Would love to see any further information that anyone has.

  3. Bob Green played with the D’Fenders along with my brother Barry Dawes who was bass player. I know because they used to practice in our front room. That photo with them all round the lamp post appears in the book Brum Rocks.

      I was trying to remember a guitarist that joined them, he was a mate of Gene Vincent so googled the D’Fenders and came across this, thought it was too long ago to respond until I saw your post.
      Yes Julian I remember Bob, good keyboard player, is he still around?
      I am Bill, Malc and Barry’s older bro. talking to my son Nick about the great days in Brum in the 60s and all the kids we used to see who are now mega stars.
